Web Content Editor
Work for Verizon's Online Center of Excellence assisting in the
maintenance of Verizon's top strategic Web pages through a content
management system (CMS). Requires tremendous attention to details and
deadlines to ensure accurate content is presented and functioning
properly on pages with extremely high visibility.
Responsibilities:
- Working with business clients, IT developers and third-party
vendors to manage HTML content on Verizon's top strategic product
pages: FiOS, FiOS TV and DSL
- Coordinating upkeep of Web pages in CMS as instructed by marketing department
- Training clients on use of CMS and maintenance of Web pages
- Ownership of Verizon's editorial style guide: lead meetings from
across multiple lines of business to define writing guidelines for
online content
- Writing and editing proposals and other materials for supervisors as needed
Achievements:
- Assumed coordination of home page updates via X+1, a
third-party vendor solution which rotates the content visitors see
based on their location
- Oversaw content updates during multiple redesigns of marketing pages, including multicultural sites
- Helped guide migration of additional sites into CMS, including
residential phone pages, and trained clients to preserve pages in CMS
- Reorganized and expanded scope of editorial style guide to blend
previous internal guidelines with universal best practices from AP and
other sources

FierceMarkets - Washington, DC - 2002-2006
Managing Editor
Edited and published a series of HTML e-mail newsletters for
executives in specialized markets. Extremely detail-oriented, deadline
intensive job requiring excellent managerial skills with editorial
staff and ad sales team.
Responsibilities:
- Copyedited seven daily newsletters (FierceBiotech, FierceCIO,
FierceEnterprise, FierceFinance, FierceHealthcare, FierceMobileContent,
FierceWireless), four weekly newsletters (FierceDeveloper, FierceIPTV,
FierceWiFi, IT-Wireless) and one twice-weekly newsletter (FierceVoIP)
which reached more than 300,000 readers everyday
- Coordinated production schedule and editorial calendars with the
writers of each newsletter and ensured that each newsletter was free of
factual, grammatical and typographical errors and was delivered on time
- Coordinated advertising content with sales department for all
publications and separate promotions and facilitated search engine
optimization (SEO) best practices between editors and marketing
department
- Delivered all publications plus all separate advertising promotions through e-mail distribution system
- Managed subscriber relations and addressed all technical issues pertaining to newsletter delivery and formatting
- Filled in for vacationing/sick writers and wrote newsletters as needed

- Started as writer/editor of FierceBroadband and FierceEnterprise
- Took on managing editor role as publication stable expanded while continuing to write FierceEnterprise
