2008 - DVD watching spree
I
emptied the DVD inbox again this weekend while Michele was out of town:
one stinker (Shooter),
one mildly entertaining B-movie (The
Rundown)
and a watchable political/spy thriller from great American writer David
Mamet (Spartan).
The latter is the only one of the three I can confidently recommend.
July 10, 2008 - Minor site changes, new reviews
Michele and I have been finishing up a lot of home repair/renovation/occupation projects the last few weeks, and I've been working to punch up a few things on the site as well, thus the lack of anything new on here (unless you've been reading the Philly Sports Blog).
First off, I've got two new DVD reviews for you: The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, featuring Maggie Smith's Oscar-winning performance as an unorthodox Scottish schoolteacher; and A Man For All Seasons, which won many Oscars, including Best Picture of 1966. I kind of violated my own rule about writing reviews of movies I've already seen on that one, but I haven't posted any reviews in a while, so I wrote one up. Michele and I attend St. Thomas More Catholic Church here in Austin now, and she'd never seen the movie. If you haven't seen it either, go out and rent it tonight.
At the suggestion of a friend, I also added the grades from all the movie reviews to the Film and DVD listings. The idea here being that seeing the grade will entice people to read the review.
I'm always open to suggestions, so please shoot me an email if you have any.
July
10, 2008 - Penis
lengthening grandma died
Mak Erot, the Indonesian centenarian renowned for her
supernatural penis lengthening techniques, died
last week. Her
treatment, which combined traditional herbs and Islamic prayer, remains
a closely guarded secret by her male descendants.
This news raises one important question: Will her death greatly reduce the amount of spam in my inbox?
