If you’re just a casual reader of this blog and don’t know me personally, you’re probably unaware that the soon-to-be-missus and I are moving to Dallas in February. As such, I’ll be incredibly busy with the logistics of moving, and posts here will be few and far between over the next several weeks. While I’ll do my best to look in from time to time, PhogLights should be back in full force sometime in the middle of the World Baseball Classic/Spring Training. Stay tuned.

It’s been so long since a team I care about has won a championship (Phillies, 1980), I’m not sure what to do with myself. I’m in such a good mood, I’m even making myself sick.

In the weeks leading up to the Rose Bowl, there were two potential scenarios I saw unfolding for my alma mater: 1) Texas would win in a shoot-out or 2) as a Mack Brown team, they would come out flat in another big game, get out-coached and be down 21 points before they knew what hit them.

I am now officially off Mack Brown’s back.

Vince Young put on perhaps the greatest show in the history of college football, and the Texas staff actually out-coached Pete Carroll & Co, especially in the last few minutes. Carroll elected to not only to go for it on fourth down (instead of punting to make UT drive 80-90 yards to win the game), but also blitz Young on every play of the ensuing drive in what can only be described as kamikaze coaching.

Being from Philadelphia and a fan of its professional teams, I’m used to being thrown violently from the threshold, not crossing it.

What does it feel like to be a champion? It feels damn good.
