I’m so mad right now, I can barely see straight. How do you remove Cole Hamels after seven innings from a game he is dominating, during a week when every pitcher in the bullpen is overworked because of a couple of extra-inning games? He absolutely has to be allowed to pitch the eighth inning and then turn it over to Brad Lidge. Then Charlie Manuel has the audacity to start screaming at the umpire about balls and strikes after his two set-up men failed to get anyone out and blew the lead!
I don’t want to hear about how Hamels already threw 108 pitches. He can’t try and throw 10 more? IF IT AIN’T BROKE, DON’T FIX IT!!!!! The old Cholly couldn’t have picked a worse time to resurface.
So instead of pulling even in the standings, the Phillies are now a full game back of the Mets, and this one is all on Manuel for pulling the most common modern-day managing blunder. If the Phillies fall a game short at the end, remember this one.
